This case shows cultural competency by working with an older white male who has a co-occurring disorder. This gentleman also presented with multiple traumatic issues. As a clinical intern, I met this client where he was by using motivational interviewing and imagining how it must feel for him to be experiencing what he was experiencing. In my Masters Social Work Human Behavior/Human Diversity course I did a group project which we discussed cross cultural communication. There are many different cultures a clinician can come across; therefore, one must be prepared for anything. This paper helped me to prepare for different Vietnamese cultures (not all are the same). This paper also helped me realize how Americans view refugees and immigrants. Our group took into consideration teaching the  community about refugees and immigrants and how we would do that. Another perspective is human trafficking and how they are affected, also the stigma that is associated with it.
